Terms & Earnings Disclosure
Plain terms for a product that pays people. Every limit below exists for a stated reason, and none of them is buried.
What Stowed is
A tool for an adult to reduce their own screen time. It measures the app categories you choose, blocks them when you ask, and awards points for staying under a target derived from your own usage. It is not parental control software and cannot be used to manage anyone else's device.
How earning works
- The first 14 days are measurement. Blocking stays off. You earn 15 points a day during this period and a 300 point bonus when the baseline locks.
- Your target is 25% below your own median daily usage — not a figure we pick.
- After that, each minute under target is 1 point, capped at 35 points a day.
- 100 points = $1.00 in gift card value.
The limits, stated plainly
- Earning is capped at 500 points ($5) per month. The cap exists because the subscription has to cover the rewards; without it, consistent users would cost more than they pay and the product would not survive.
- Redemption opens at 500 points, and no earlier than 7 days after the account is created.
- Points never expire. They are never removed for inactivity, ever.
- Your balance can never go negative. There is no debt and no borrowing against future earnings.
- Points cannot be purchased under any circumstances. They are earned or they do not exist.
- Rewards are closed-loop digital gift cards only. There are no cash payouts.
Days that do not count
If a device goes quiet across the board — no messaging, no navigation, no music — that reads as a handset set aside rather than a habit changed, and the day scores zero. This is not an accusation and nothing already earned is taken away. Normal use resumes normal earning. Accounts with three or more such days are held for review before any redemption.
What is not guaranteed
Amounts shown before a server sync are estimates. Actual balances are determined by our server. Reward availability depends on our fulfilment provider's catalogue and may change. Nothing here is a guarantee of income, and the monthly cap means the maximum any account can earn is $5 per month.
Subscription
Membership is $8 per month after a 7-day free trial, billed through Apple. It is required to convert points into gift cards. Measuring, blocking and earning work without it. Cancel any time in your Apple account settings; cancellation stops future billing and does not remove points already earned.
What we can block
Messages, Phone, and anything in your iOS Always Allowed list cannot be blocked by any app, including this one. Music, podcasts, audiobooks and navigation are permanently allowed.
Fair use
Attempting to manufacture reductions — by using a second device, automating activity, or falsifying data — voids the affected points. We would rather explain the limits than accuse anyone, which is why the rules are written here instead of enforced quietly.
